Act of Valor
As promised Bleed Geek: Movies is back with our second review, this time for the new action film Act of Valor. From the moment I saw the first trailer for this movie I became very interested in seeing Act of Valor because of the films main gimmick… that the major roles are played by actual active duty Navy SEALs. The first movie with a skinny Jonah Hill.
The book was very good, I hope that the film makers get it right and don’t have to change too much.
Hopefully this movie is more like the original and less like the sequel.
This trailer makes me think that this movie is going to be a lot of fun. It is looking like G.I. Joe 2 has a good chance at being this summers Fast Five.
I was very skeptical when they first announced that they were rebooting the Spider-man franchise. The first trailer still had me on the fence about this movie, however with this latest trailer I am starting to think that maybe this reboot could be a good thing.
Welcome to Bleed Geek: Movies, a new Bleed Geek site for film fans. The plan for this new site is to share movie news, trailers, and reviews. For the film reviews we will be using a popcorn bucket scale, going from 1 bucket (cinematic crap), to 5 buckets (for amazing movies).
We will try to get up reviews of new movies as quickly as we can (probably a few days after release), and during weeks when there is nothing new at the theater that we are interested in, look for reviews of movies that are new to home video, or even some classics.
The Bleed Geek: Movies site has a calendar on the side of our homepage where you can look to see what movies will be released on a Friday, and what the DVD/Blu-ray releases will be on Tuesdays.
Finally as a part of the Bleed Geek family we are looking to add a new monthly feature to the Bleed Geek podcast where we will talk about movies, don’t worry though Mike and Randy will still fill you in on all of the latest tech news. The current plan is to podcast on the 1st Thursday of the month, though we will keep you updated if that changes at all, and you can always check the sites calendar for when it will be.

Safe House –
If you were to combine the Jason Bourne movies with the film Training Day the end result would probably something very similar to the new movie Safe House. Safe House has a lot in common with most modern CIA action films, even the way that the action was shot reminded me off the two Paul Greengrass directed Bourne movies (Supremacy and Ultimatum), though thankfully director Daniel Espinosa keeps his shaky cam from being overused or distracting. What really makes this film work is the interaction between Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, with strong supporting roles played by Brendan Gleeson, and Vera Farmiga as CIA higher-ups.
