Hey everyone, Matt here with Bleed Geek Movies’ second installment of Random Movie Ramblings. In this feature Mike and I take turns giving one another movies to watch that either we have never seen before, or don’t really remember much about. In the first installment I had Mike watch the classic Tim Burton film Ed Wood, if you have not read his review yet give it a look. This time I get to watch the 2004 film Employee of the Month, and no this is not the Dane Cook/ Dax Shepard comedy, this is a black comedy drama starring Matt Dillon. Continue reading

Mike’s Quick ‘This is the End’ Review
Lets just cut to the chase right away, you should go see this movie.
Coming from the writers of Superbad and Pineapple Express you kind of know what kind of humor to expect going in, and they do deliver. Having seen the trailers, I was a little worried that there would not be much of a plotline and that it would just be a bunch of friends hanging out, or even worse it would be in the nightmare region of the movie Grown Ups. Luckily, this was not the case. The plot was actually very well written and you can tell they all had a lot of fun making the movie.
I really had no idea what to expect for an ending and I am not going to tell you anything that would give it away, but I am not sure it could have ended any better. Although the movie is quite action packed, it was really the dialogue that got me and the way the actors portrayed themselves. I can’t remember the last time I have laughed this hard at the theater. As long as you can handle some vulgar language and a little bit of nudity, then I suggest that you go and see this movie.
I give it four and a half popcorn buckets. As a comedy it’s solid, well written, and has a good plot.
A Good Day To Die Hard: Review
As a big fan of the Die Hard series I went into A Good Day to Die Hard expecting to have a good time. I consider Die Hard to be one of my all time favorite movies, and I have enjoyed all of the subsequent sequels, that is until A Good Day to Die Hard. Simply put A Good Day to Die Hard just does not feel like a Die Hard movie. As I was sitting in the theater watching the movie I kept thinking to myself that something felt off, something was wrong. Taken 2 Review
I am going to steal a line from the short lived 90’s animated series The Critic to best sum up my feelings about the new Liam Neeson action thriller Taken 2… “It Stinks!!!” Continue reading
Liberal Arts REVIEW
“What I love about improv is that it makes you always say yes, and then add something.” -Zibby
As someone who has attempted improv before, and has seen it done well I would have to agree with this statement. Nothing will halt a sketch faster than someone saying no, someone fighting against your choice or what you just said, or simply ignoring it. The best improv teams (and actors in general) say “YES” to the situation and dive in 110%. That is what helps make things grow to be so hilarious because they believe they are in this situation, and therefore, so do you.
Now, sadly, this film is not one giant improv show. But I enjoyed it all the same.
I have been waiting for LIBERAL ARTS to be released ever since I heard about it early this year. LIBERAL ARTS is Josh Radnor’s (How I Met Your Mother) sophomore feature film, and following in the same pattern as his debut, HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE (actual title…my space bar is working just fine), Radnor is the writer, director and lead actor in this film. And once again he has given us a film worth watching. Continue reading
The Campaign: Review
The Campaign Review
The Campaign is a smart and funny new comedy that makes fun of something that is very deserving of being mocked, political campaigns. Surprisingly the film manages to avoid dealing with the differences between Republicans and Democrats, and instead highlights how similar they are in their attempts to win votes. As someone who is extremely cynical when it comes to American politics I found most of the humor in this movie right up my alley. Continue reading
The Dark Knight Rises Review
The Dark Knight Rises: Review
With The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan completes his Batman trilogy that started in 2005 with Batman Begins and was continued 2008’s The Dark Knight. I will go ahead and answer the big question right away, how does this new movie compare to Nolan’s first two Batman movies? The Dark Knight Rises is not as good as The Dark Knight (you can argue that not only is The Dark Knight the best Batman movie it is also one of the best comic book movies made), at the same time I think this new movie is as good as if not a little better than Batman Begins. Continue reading
Prometheus Review
Prometheus Review
Sometimes having high expectations for movie can be a rewarding experience, I was expecting great things from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers and when it delivered everything I had hoped for I felt validated and rewarded. At the same time having high expectations can make a movies flaws and shortcomings even worse, just look at 2009’s Terminator: Salvation where the trailers and the marketing campaign got my extremely excited only to have the film itself let me down. My expectations for Ridley Scott’s new film Prometheus were extremely high, so the big question is did the meet those expectations? Unfortunately I have to say that for me Prometheus was a bit of a disappointment. Continue reading

Battleship Review
“You Sunk My Battleship!”
As a movie fan I look forward to the summer movie season. Many of my favorite movies are big summer blockbusters. I love the spectacle of these movies, the larger than life stories, the special effects, the humorous dialogue, and most importantly the fun. While Battleship is nowhere near this summer’s best movie (that award is currently held firmly by The Avengers with plenty more on the way that look pretty good), it is a fun film that I think audiences will really enjoy if they give it a chance.
Yes this is a movie based on the classic board game where you guess locations on your opponent’s board attempting to locate their ships and sink them before they sink yours. Yes the film makers decided to have the Navy facing off against alien vessels rather than against another nation. And while this movie has many reasons why it should not work, and why it should suck, it somehow managed to keep me entertained throughout its entire two hour run time. Continue reading

The Avengers: Review
The Avengers is a near perfect big summer blockbuster. This movie featured everything that I hoped it would include, epic action sequences, entertaining dialogue, humor, and most importantly lots of fun. Honestly I am struggling to think of the last time I walked out of a movie and I immediately wanted to go back to watch it all over again. Continue reading
