Hey everyone, Matt here with Bleed Geek Movies’ second installment of Random Movie Ramblings. In this feature Mike and I take turns giving one another movies to watch that either we have never seen before, or don’t really remember much about. In the first installment I had Mike watch the classic Tim Burton film Ed Wood, if you have not read his review yet give it a look. This time I get to watch the 2004 film Employee of the Month, and no this is not the Dane Cook/ Dax Shepard comedy, this is a black comedy drama starring Matt Dillon. Continue reading

Welcome!!!
We have exciting new updates to the Bleed Geek Movies website to let you know about. Recently we made the decision to allow take the monthly movies segment from the regular Bleed Geek podcast and let it spread its wings to fly on its own twice a month with its own podcast. We will be planning to record these podcasts on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month (the first one was just posted up on the website, and we will be recording episode 2 tomorrow night). During the podcast we will discuss the latest movie news, give reviews for new films, and of course in true Bleed Geek fashion we will go ahead and talk about whatever else we feel like.
On the website we will continue to post reviews for the new movies Dave and I see. Here at Bleed Geek Movies we use a Popcorn bucket reviewing system, where 5 Popcorn is our highest score and 0 buckets would be lowest. Along with the reviews we will continue to post trailers for upcoming movies that we are excited about Another new element that you will notice on the site is that we have reopened the comments section. When we first launched this site nearly a year ago the comments quickly became filled with spam so we closed the comments section. Now the comments will be run through Facebook, which should cut down on spam comments (though I will miss the encouraging spammers that would tell me how much they appreciate this blog site). Now that this is up and running I am looking forward to posting some best of lists and articles that will hopefully lead to some conversations in the comments section.
Please go and check out our new Facebook page www.facebook.com/BleedGeekMovies, and give us a like. You can now also follow us on twitter @bleedgeekmovies.
Hopefully you will find the Bleed Geek Movies site a fun place to come and talk movies with some fellow Geeks. Enjoy!!

A Good Day To Die Hard: Review
As a big fan of the Die Hard series I went into A Good Day to Die Hard expecting to have a good time. I consider Die Hard to be one of my all time favorite movies, and I have enjoyed all of the subsequent sequels, that is until A Good Day to Die Hard. Simply put A Good Day to Die Hard just does not feel like a Die Hard movie. As I was sitting in the theater watching the movie I kept thinking to myself that something felt off, something was wrong. Taken 2 Review
I am going to steal a line from the short lived 90’s animated series The Critic to best sum up my feelings about the new Liam Neeson action thriller Taken 2… “It Stinks!!!” Continue reading
Prometheus Review
Prometheus Review
Sometimes having high expectations for movie can be a rewarding experience, I was expecting great things from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers and when it delivered everything I had hoped for I felt validated and rewarded. At the same time having high expectations can make a movies flaws and shortcomings even worse, just look at 2009’s Terminator: Salvation where the trailers and the marketing campaign got my extremely excited only to have the film itself let me down. My expectations for Ridley Scott’s new film Prometheus were extremely high, so the big question is did the meet those expectations? Unfortunately I have to say that for me Prometheus was a bit of a disappointment. Continue reading

Battleship Review
“You Sunk My Battleship!”
As a movie fan I look forward to the summer movie season. Many of my favorite movies are big summer blockbusters. I love the spectacle of these movies, the larger than life stories, the special effects, the humorous dialogue, and most importantly the fun. While Battleship is nowhere near this summer’s best movie (that award is currently held firmly by The Avengers with plenty more on the way that look pretty good), it is a fun film that I think audiences will really enjoy if they give it a chance.
Yes this is a movie based on the classic board game where you guess locations on your opponent’s board attempting to locate their ships and sink them before they sink yours. Yes the film makers decided to have the Navy facing off against alien vessels rather than against another nation. And while this movie has many reasons why it should not work, and why it should suck, it somehow managed to keep me entertained throughout its entire two hour run time. Continue reading
21 Jump Street Review
21 Jump Street Review
Well here is a first for Bleed Geek: Movies, a review for a movie that is up on the site before the movie officially hits theaters. Last week I attended an advance screening of the new comedy 21 Jump Street.
When the FOX television network launched back in 1987, one of the networks debut shows was 21 Jump Street, a show about a group young police officers who would go undercover in high schools and colleges to solve drug related crimes. Now over 20 years later 21 Jump Street is back as a movie, this time using the same basic premise, but rather than going the dramatic or action route the filmmakers have decided to turn it into a comedy.
