Ed Wood; Random Movie Ramblings

Ed WoodGoing into this movie I didn’t know a lot about it. I knew it was a Tim Burton Film, I knew it was in black and white, I thought it was at least loosely based on a true story, and I had heard it was a very good acting job by Johnny Depp.

The movie started out very Tim Burton-y, the intro was impressive, which also turned out to be the outro, going from fake to real. The black and white didn’t bother me much, however I don’t know if it helped or hurt the story.

The movie was fine at the start, actors playing actors, it made me wonder if it is hard for actors to play bad actors. Ed Wood reminded me very much of Bob Benson with all his positive outlook and what not.

The show then got a bit weird. At first I thought maybe it was about Ed making his first movie, but then it turned into him cross dressing (which really strengthened the ties to Bob Benson). He finished his first movie it was horrible, he somehow was allowed to make another. This seemed to be taking a bit longer so maybe that’s what this story was about. Then there was a super crazy premiere that I wasn’t really even sure what was going on with and it seemed like maybe the movie would be over, but there was still like an hour left. We found out Bella was into lots of drugs so I thought maybe that’s what this was going to be all about, but he got out then he died. We then get involved with some baptists and made another movie that they hated but who cares its going to make millions. It didn’t. The premiere does go a lot better this time and then that’s that.

The movie was just a range of Ed’s life, it was weird, he was weird. I am still not really sure what I am suppose to think or feel about him or it. Will I watch it again, probably not.
