Time for some game news!

First off, short and sweet: Marvel and Telltale are making a game together! Marvel Games has partnered with Telltale for a project coming in 2017. Buuuut that’s about all we know. Yay! Now moving on…

Do you play D&D? Would you like to play with your friends online? Fantasy Grounds is “a hybrid application which allows you to play and create your own RPG games” and is available to purchase on Steam. The application offers tons of different campaigns from RPG giants like Pathfinder and Call Of Cthulhu, and you can even make your own. Earlier this month, they announced that they were officially licensed by Wizards of the Coast to sell D&D source material. The first set of D&D modules (such as the D&D Complete Core Class Pack and the The Lost Mine of Phandelver) went on sale last week.

Doug Davison, the president of Fantasy Grounds, has promised more content. “We have a queue that we’re working through right now,” he told Polygon. “We just finished up the preliminary work on the Hoard of the Dragon Queen adventure module, and so that’s currently in review right now. We’ve already conducted our internal reviews, and now it’s out in the hands of a few folks at Wizards of the Coast…I think you’re looking at a matter of maybe weeks before that’s available.” In addition, Wizard’s communication manager Greg Tito confirmed that the most recent D&D campaigns are also coming to Fantasy Grounds.

Polygon brings up how strange it is that Wizard’s “is partnering with a tool which, for all intents and purposes, allows users to scrape content off the internet for free and easily insert it into their games” (Fantasy Grounds offers tutorials on how to get maps off of Google and drop it into games). But Tito acknowledges that players have been doing that for years, so why not make it easy for them? “It goes down to everything that we’ve been excited about in this partnership withFantasy Grounds,” Tito said. “It’s just another tool to allow people to play D&D the way they want to play it.”

Polygon got a hands-on look at Nintendo’s upcoming Splatoon single-player mode. The game is being touted as an online multiplayer shooter, but the game has much more to offer; Splatoon producer Hisashi Nogami has said that he thinks “the game will appeal to eSports players.” In Splatoon, you play as an anthropomorphized squid called an Inkling that can switch between being humanoid or a squid that can shoot brightly-colored ink. The ink allows the player to swim and climb while in squid-form. Splatoon will also have dedicated Amiibos that unlock special missions within the game. The game and its Amiibos come out for Wii U on May 29th.

bettyHave you ever blogged about some crazy idea and then someone takes that idea and turns it into a video game?
Inspired by this post on Tumblr, studio Sketchy Panda Games decided that a “zombie apocalypse that only affects men so it’s up to the housewives of 50s’ America to save humanity,” was too cool of an idea to let go, so they’re currently developing Aberford.
Aberford is an upcoming action game set in the 1950s. The game deals with social issues such as women’s rights and racism. With well-rounded female protagonists, Aberford promises “fast, dangerous zombies” and “fluid, dynamic combat.” Sketchy Panda is gearing up for a Kickstarter in May for Aberford, so stay tuned!
