Through 2018, Strategy Analytics forecasts that the Playstation 4 will outsell the Xbox One by 23 million lifetime sales. In their Connected Home Devices report, they state, “the global active installed base of Sony’s PS4 is predicted to reach 80.0M units by 2019, compared to 57.0M for Microsoft’s Xbox One, a lead of 40%.” IGN reports that Sony has sold 18.5 million PS4s since the console launched. The Xbox One has apparently shipped an estimated 12.4 million consoles. At this rate, the PS4 is nearing the first-year sales of the PS2 —the best-selling console in history— which sold 20.1 million initially, and 150 million in its lifetime.

Giant Spacekat is pulling out of the PAX East Expo Hall, after their security concerns have reportedly gone unaddressed. Brianna Wu, head dev at GSX and recently a prime target of GamerGate, explains that the safety of her team is of the utmost importance. “We had a conversation as a team, and they voted,” Wu said, “They do not feel comfortable with this. As their leader, I heard that and I’m going to respect it.” Wu told Polygon that GSX will hopefully be at PAX East 2016, and that it’s generally a safe space for most people, but with the 46 death threats Wu and her team have received in the last 5 months, “ it doesn’t feel safe to us.” Wu says she will still attend the panels she has committed to for this year. “I think it speaks very poorly to the state of videogames,” she concluded, “when threats and harassment preclude a team of women from showing their work at one of the industry’s most important events.”

Coming this Tuesday is a big patch for World of Warcraft. Aptly known as “Patch 6.1,” it introduces a new heirloom system and updated Blood Elf models, among other graphics improvements. But most importantly, this patch adds Twitter integration. That’s right, you can tweet while you WoW. You’ll be able to tell all your followers about the sweet loot you picked up right away, and even tweet a screenshot. I’m willing to bet as soon as this patch drops, #WoW will be a huge trending topic.

From Software released a story trailer for the much-anticipated Bloodbourne. The town of Yharnam is plagued, and you’re the only one who can purge it. It’s aesthetically similar to Dark Souls, which I’m sure many Souls fans will be excited to hear. This PS4 exclusive gothic RPG is due to hit shelves March 26th.

One of the more anticipated games for 2015, The Order: 1886, released today (February 20th). Unfortunately, most of the reviews coming in aren’t good. Polygon gives it a 5.5, saying that it “doesn’t offer much that other games aren’t doing better.” IGN writes, “Though a stylish adventure, The Order: 1886 emphasizes its cinematic polish at the crippling cost of gameplay freedom.” They ultimately gave it a 6.5. “Should you play The Order: 1886?” Kotaku asks, to which they answer, “no.” I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy this game, because as hard as they try, reviews are always somewhat subjective. But, it is very hard to look at all the evidence and think, “well that looks like a great game!”
Following their recent decision to move towards PC and Mobile games, Sega has bought 3 western developers— most notable of which is Demiurge studios. Demiurge has worked with Harmonix, Gearbox, Irrational, and BioWare; they’ve had their hands on titles such as Mass Effect and BioShock. “Through some miraculous happenstance of fate,” Demiurge expressed, “we’ve founded a partner that likes us just the way we are–warts and all.” The company will continue their current projects, but appear to be awestruck with the buyout. They’ll also get to keep their name.

Killing Floor 2 is set to come out later this year. In Tripwire’s quest to bring Killing Floor to more than just video games, they’ve released a short film titled “Killing Floor: Uncovered“. The film documents a group of activists during an attempt to expose Horzine’s evil operations and, well, they get exactly what they ask for.
If you’re itching for a new game that isn’t The Order :1886, I’d suggest picking up a Humble Bundle or maybe waiting for Dragon Ball: Xenoverse. Kirby and The Rainbow Curse also dropped today with generally positive reviews. Plus, who doesn’t kinda miss Kirby? The current Humble Bundle is their second Square Enix pack. Pay at least $15 and you can get Hitman: Absolution, as well as the new Thief and Tomb Raider! Or, grab a friend and get the weekly Humble Bundle featuring all co-op games!
