HYPED OVER OVERWATCH! Blizzard released some gameplay footage of two of Overwatch’s healing characters: Zenyatta and Mercy (click to watch). Zenyatta is the robotic monk who seemingly shoots orbs out to heal teammates. Mercy, who appears to play a lot like TF2’s medic, can zip between injured allies with her wings.

Castelvania’s spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been successfully funded 4x over on Kickstarter. The $500,000 goal was funded in less than a day, and as of this writing, Bloodstained has raised $2,006,743 with 28 days to go.
Yooka-Laylee is officially the most successful UK game on Kickstarter, raising $2,462,225 (€2,153,819) so far. “The response has been truly humbling for everybody involved. We knew there was an audience hungry for this type of game (we’re part of it!) but we still didn’t anticipate a reaction quite this big,” Playtonic’s Andy Robinson told WIRED. Yooka-Laylee has raised over 900 percent of its original goal with 32 days still left in the campaign.

All About Ubisoft
Unfortunately, we wont get to play The Division this year. The game has been delayed until Ubisoft’s 4th quarter, which is between January 1st and March 31st of 2016. Rainbow Six Siege got a release date: Expect to see the game on shelves on October 16th of this year. Additionally, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate was announced this week. Like all Ubisoft titles going forward, Syndicate will be released for “next gen” only, expecting to go on sale October 23, 2015. Syndicate will feature TWO assassins: twins Jacob and Evie Frye— and yes, Evie is a woman. It takes place in Victorian-era London. Expect to see famous faces like Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens. Ubisoft also released their earnings report if you’re into that kind of stuff. Basically, open-world games hold 30% of the market share, and they take up 1/2 of 2014’s best-sellers; Ubisoft is happy.
The second installment of Feminist Frequency’s Positive Female Character series features Ubisoft’s Beyond Good & Evil’s protagonist, Jade. They explore how Jade is not only a woman of color, but is dressed practically and realistically, while being in control of her own journey. She’s relatable: Jade is not rich like Batman or Lara Croft. She isn’t a “tough as nails” strong female character, but rather an altruistic lead whose good nature never falters. Watch below for more of why Beyond Good & Evil does such a good job of having a positive female character!
